GETTING STARTED
Our office manager, Taylor, answers our phone from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm Monday through Friday. You can reach her at 919-428-2766 ext. 0. Calls received after 1:30 pm will be returned the next business day between 8:30 am and 1:30pm. If you prefer to contact us by email, fill out our contact form online by clicking the purple “contact” button in the upper right corner of this page.
Learn about our clinicians by visiting the about us page on our website. You can read about each clinician’s background and watch a brief video introduction.
If you would like to speak to one of our clinicians before making an initial appointment, our receptionist, Taylor, will be glad to set up a complimentary 10-minute phone consultation for you.
For your convenience, several of our clinicians offer limited evening and Saturday appointments. Please let our office know if you need a specific time or day, so we can let you know which therapists are available.
Most new clients can schedule an initial appointment within two weeks of your initial call.
Some of our clinicians are offering Telehealth appointments only, while others are seeing clients in-person. Please contact our office for more information.
FEES & INSURANCE
We are a fee-for-service practice where payment is due in full at the time of your session. We are not on insurance panels, nor do we accept Medicare or Medicaid. However, our clinicians ARE considered “authorized out-of-network providers” with most insurance companies. If you have out-of-network benefits, you may receive some reimbursement for our services by directly filing claims with your insurance company. Many of our clients who have out of network benefits, and meet their deductible, receive reimbursement between 50-75% of our fees.
Our practice has made an intentional choice to remain out-of-network in order to put our clients first. The therapists at Orenstein Solutions customize care according to our expertise and your unique needs, not to insurance dictates. By being out-of-network, we are also able to safeguard details of your care, honoring your privacy.
To find out the details of your plan, call the number on the back of your insurance card and talk with a customer service representative. Refer to our Insurance 101 sheet for specifics on how to make the most of that phone call.
We request full payment for services rendered at the time of each session. Our practice accepts cash (exact change please), checks payable to “Orenstein Solutions, PLLC” and major credit cards, including MasterCard, Visa, American Express, and Discover. We do not accept payment directly from insurance companies.
In most cases, our services are considered an eligible Flex Spending Account (FSA) or Health Spending Account (HSA) expense. We process FSA/HSA cards as we would any credit card, and our Merchant Category Code (MCC) is set up to signal that charges from our office are directly related to medical needs. However, your card could still be declined for insufficient funds. In the event of a declined charge, you will need to contact your card issuer directly to resolve the issue and provide an alternate form of payment.
TELEHEALTH
Yes! Telehealth has afforded us accessibility to counseling through the COVID-19 pandemic, and will continue to be an appointment option even when it’s safe to resume in-person appointments. The privacy, comfort and convenience of teletherapy is a great option for new moms, caregivers, those with limited mobility, or those with busy schedules.
All of our providers offer virtual, teletherapy (or telehealth) appointments through our secure client portal.
However, please be aware that per state licensing laws, you must be physically located in North Carolina at the time of your telehealth appointment with our practice. If you are scheduled for a telehealth appointment while traveling out-of-state, please notify us in advance.
A large body of scientific evidence suggests that the benefits of teletherapy are virtually identical to traditional therapy. In teletherapy, you receive the same quality care you would in an in-person session. Because your therapist will see and hear your vocal cues and body language with our secure web-conferencing software, the online session very closely replicates an in-office appointment.
We provide web therapy sessions via Simple Practice’s “Telehealth” web conferencing application. The program is 100% HIPAA and HI-TRUST certified and compliant. No software download is required; all that’s needed is an internet-capable device—such as a desktop, laptop, or tablet—equipped with a webcam and speakers. You will also need high-speed internet connection. After making an appointment, your therapist will provide the link to the teletherapy session. Simply click the link at the scheduled time to join the secure video call with your therapist.
Please note that we do not accept insurance at Orenstein Solutions and payment is due at the time of your session. However, you may receive some reimbursement for services if you have “out-of-network” benefits. We recommend calling your insurance company to find out if teletherapy sessions are reimbursable under your specific plan. This Insurance 101 handout provides more information about understanding your insurance benefits.

OTHER INFORMATION
Federal law requires our practice to provide you with a Good Faith Estimate for the cost of our services.
The course of treatment for mental health issues varies by patient, but often requires ongoing sessions. Depending on your diagnosis, the severity of your symptoms, and the level of support needed, you may need between 5 to 20 psychotherapy sessions this year. At the average hourly rate of providers at our practice, your estimated total costs are between $1,000 to $5,000 per year. More exact estimates are provided on your provider’s consent form.
After each session, we will send you a written receipt, listing your diagnostic code, your provider’s Tax ID (EIN) and license number, a description of the service you received, and the associated fee. These receipts will also be stored in our HIPAA-protected portal for you to access at any time. We invite you to discuss your treatment plan with your provider and express any concerns you have regarding the course of treatment.
