Who’s Eligible for Early Entry into Kindergarten?
In North Carolina children must be five years old by August 31st to begin Kindergarten that academic year. However, children who turn four years old by the preceding April 16th may be eligible for early Kindergarten entry, provided they are deemed gifted and have the maturity to be successful in school.
Is Early Entry the right choice for my child?
If you are considering the possibility of enrolling your child in Kindergarten early, our child psychologists can help walk you through this decision-making process. Our child psychologists are all fully licensed, doctoral-level clinicians who specialize in psychological and educational assessments.
How can Orenstein Solutions help?
We provide early Kindergarten Entry Evaluations that meet criteria for early kindergarten eligibility in the North Carolina School System. We conduct these assessments in our Cary office. For your convenience, we offer our testing services during the week and also on Saturdays.
What should I expect from the evaluation process?
- Parents will meet with our child psychologist to gather background information regarding your child’s developmental, health, and preschool history.
- Our psychologist then meets with your child to conduct the formal testing. We create a relaxing, fun atmosphere, providing breaks for activities to put your child at ease.
- We then provide a feedback session to discuss the results of the testing. We also create a comprehensive report for you that includes your child’s strengths, weaknesses, and learning style.
