At Orenstein Solutions, our licensed doctoral-level Psychologists offer a supportive, collaborative style of therapy, drawing from therapeutic models including Holistic Mind-Body and Solution-Focused frameworks, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectic-Behavioral Therapy (DBT).  Our goal is to help clients experience rapid relief of suffering, while developing new insights and ways of handling situations that will help them have more joyful, fulfilling lives.  We want to help you get these results as quickly as possible, while also supporting you along the way.

Once clients have some symptom relief, we work on creating coping skills and developing a healthy home and work environment to prevent future relapse.  At times, clients find that they have been able to learn about themselves and their needs from their symptoms, and can use therapy as an opportunity for self-reflection and the creation of new possibilities.

Through the counseling process, we will be your guide and sounding board, while you will always be the expert in your experience, values and needs.  Together, we will observe your distressing thoughts and beliefs and develop new perspectives to help you improve your mood and manage stress.  Skill building is also an important
component of our work.  Our psychologists help clients develop their coping skills (e.g., relaxation skills, mindfulness) and communication skills to improve their relationship with others.  Clients are able to end treatment after experiencing not only symptom relief, but better understanding of themselves and their needs, and increased sense of self-confidence and self-reliance.

What to Expect From Our Practice

Our first few sessions will involve an evaluation of your needs. Your therapist will want to learn about your presenting concerns, current stressors and goals for counseling, as well as some background information regarding how you’ve coped with stress in the past.  Then together, you will develop mutual treatment goals and discuss the approach that will work for you.  During this time, you and your therapist can both decide if your therapist is the best person to provide the services to you.  We strive to make our clients comfortable asking questions and expressing their needs.

You can expect your therapist to treat you with respect and dignity, being sensitive to your needs, while also taking an active role in the therapy process.  Your therapist will regularly give you feedback regarding his or her observations of you, including your self-defeating patterns and your strengths.

Once psychotherapy has begun, your therapist will usually schedule weekly therapy sessions, although some sessions may be longer or more frequent.  After you begin making progress, the sessions may be spaced out to every other week and then to monthly sessions, based upon your needs.
